I still have occasion to refer to it. The brief treatment of the Serret-Frenet formulae for lines in space, and their application to particle kinematics, is nice, and not overly common in introductory texts. The fact that it continues to sell, nearly 50 years after it first appeared, says as much about its merits as anything I could.

I am a retired professor of physiology with a background in medical physics. Since I have always wanted to grasp the relativity theory of Einstein, but did not have the necessary background in vector and tensor analysis, I am now studying in this area to fulfill my dream.

I have tried several books on this subject and found Robert C Wrede's book to be the best. I have found his explanations rigorous and clear. No confusing errors as a matter of fact no errors. The reason for looking up this title on the internet again is that I enjoyed this title so much that I would like to order an additional copy with hard cover. One of the positive aspect of this title are the well chosen examples and Only 8 left in stock more on the way. This text is an excellent introduction to tensor analysis and differential geometry.

Coupled with Pavel Grinfeld's outstanding series of lectures on U-Tube, an interested student can rapidly gain a working knowledge of this beautiful subject and gain an appreciation of the great mathematicians who developed it.

Grinfeld paints a canvas with the tensor notation that is truly awesome. I was first exposed to tensors in college, and the experience was so unpleasant and bewildering that I switched to quantum mechanics.

QM made sense to me; tensors did not. Decades later, I had a real need for tensors in my job, so I had to learn them. I bought and read a half-dozen well-rated books from Amazon, but only this book worked. The exposition is mathematically rigorous, but the content is also well-motivated. Their explanation of "The Tensor Concept" is the subject of a dedicated chapter; it alone is worth the price of the book. Its presentation encapsulates the book's style, so I'll preview it here.
